Brody has known since last year when he was Mario that he wanted to be Sonic the Hedgehog. I had to come up with how to make this costume all on my own. I think I did a good job.

We spent a couple months trying to come up with what the rest of us would be. Briar was watching the movie Tangled over and over again so I asked if she wanted to be Repunzel. She said yes. Then I came up with myself being Mother Gothel, Shad being Flynn Rider and Finn would either be Maximus or Pascal. I thought a horse costume would be easier to make and wear but she wanted Finn to be Pascal so that was that. I bought a pattern for a Repunzel dress but I didn't like how it looked. I thought it didn't look very much like the movie dress. So I altered it a bit to match what thought it should look like. I think the dress turned out really well. Briar was the one on the day of the pictures to say she needed her pan. The wig was borrowed from a girlfriend who made it for her daughter last year when she was Repunzel. Finn's costume was pretty much made up as well. I googled other costumes and not many people have made pascal costumes or chameleon costumes that I liked. But he was so super cute and wore his tail with no problem. The hat was only worn for the pictures and he wasn't too happy about it.
Shad's costume turned out the best! His hair always has that woosh to the front that Flynn has and Shad had already grown out a beard and was such a trooper cutting it down for Halloween so he looked just like Flynn. I even got him to do the smolder and it was spot on. All I had to make for Shad was his vest. I got a pattern for a Renaissance time period male outfit. The vest in the pattern was basically what I needed. I added some batting in between the fabric and then using my machine, sewed the lines matching it with Flynn's. The buckles were difficult to match and hard to attach, but they worked.
Mine was a Renaissance time period dress pattern as well. I matched the color of Mother Gothel's dress perfectly but the color for the lining in the sleeve was hard. Gold was as good as I could get it since her dress is all patterned. The collar was very hard! I had to add fabric and dart and hope for the best. My pattern's sleeves were almost to the floor so I had to shorten those up some and they could have been shorter. I had NO CLUE how to tie that belt loop so instead I tied the belt in knots around the buckle. It worked ok.
Repunzel kissing Flynn with Pascal looking on.
We look so great!! I tried making my hair poofier then normal but it doesn't look like it.
Our cute family.
I also found time to make my cute neighbor a Hogwarts robe so she could be Hermione. Her mom crocheted the scarf and put together the perfect uniform outfit. They braided her hair wet the night before and let it dry so it looked more like Hermione's. She looks darling.
Happy Halloween everyone! What will we be next year??
